No matter whether you are looking to reduce waste, or it's out of practical necessity; reusable cable ties are a great addition to any professional's toolkit. There are two different main types of reusable cable ties that can be released and reused, but what is the difference? And which one should you choose?
Trigger release cable ties
Our trigger release cable ties (available in black, white, red, blue, green and yellow), are the most popular reusable cable ties due to their ease of use. As the name suggests, you are able to release the cable tie using your hands.
The ease of use (and ease of release), makes these cable ties popular for use cases where you need to be able to temporarily fasten something, or you frequently need to change your cable bundling or setup such as in computer cable management and networking.
The release mechanism on these cable ties is extremely easy to use: Simply press down on the trigger, and the cable tie is released!
Extended tongue cable ties
Our extended tongue (or tooth) cable ties however are slightly different. The construction of these cable ties is more like a standard cable tie, but the tongue of the cable tie's locking mechanism has been extended to make it easier to press on with something like a flathead screwdriver (these ties still can be released by hand using your nails, but we would not recommend doing this as this is difficult to do).
The key difference to the trigger release cable ties is the ease of use, and the extended tongue cable ties are more secure due to them being harder to release. This makes them perfect for use cases where you still require the cable tie to be releasable much like a normal reusable tie - but with the added benefit of not being able to do this accidentally.
The maximum tensile strength is also higher on the thickest extended tongue cable ties when comparing to the trigger release ones: 79,4 kg vs 22 kg - making them the perfect choice for the most secure use, when you still need to be able to release the cable tie.
